AI task manager on your list

An AI task feature inside a chatbot is a second list. With Done Bear, ChatGPT and Claude read and add on the list you use on Windows, the web, Mac and iPhone.

A brown bear looking over a ledge.

TL;DR: A todo feature inside a chatbot gives you a second list to check. Done Bear works on the list you already keep: connect ChatGPT or Claude at the hosted MCP server and it can read and add tasks there. If you want ChatGPT’s own Tasks feature, that’s OpenAI’s product, and this post isn’t about it.

Two kinds of AI task manager

One kind keeps its todos inside the chatbot. The other is a list you already own, with agents invited onto it. Done Bear is the second kind: agents read and add on the same list you do.

ChatGPT Tasks is the first column. Done Bear, and Todoist’s own MCP connector, are the second.

ChatGPT Tasks is a different product

ChatGPT Tasks is OpenAI’s product, and it lives inside ChatGPT. Stay there if that’s the list you wanted.

If your list is already in Todoist, Todoist publishes its own MCP connector.

How ChatGPT and Claude connect

ChatGPT on the web can add a custom MCP app once Developer Mode is on. Paste https://mcp.donebear.com/mcp and sign in with OAuth. Free and Plus can’t add custom MCP apps.

The ChatGPT MCP page has the steps and the plan limits. Claude has its own how-to and connects the same way.

One list on every device

You can’t run a week from a list that only exists in one chat. Done Bear keeps the same tasks on Windows, web, macOS, Linux, and iOS, so a task you capture on your phone is the one you review on a PC.

There’s no Android app yet. The waitlist is on /android.

The longer comparison is on Todoist alternatives.
